Fukuro Obi

Fukuro obi came about as a lighter alternative to the heavier, fully woven maru obi. Fukuro obi are typically around 400-440cm long and are usually 60% covered by the design, with a plain back. They have varying degrees of formality, depending on the fabric, weave and pattern placement. A fully designed fukuro obi with metallic threads will better suit the ornate bows of furisode and formal nature of kuro and irotomesode. A fukuro obi with specifically placed patterns will better suit houmongi, tsukesage and vintage kimono.
